Grimsby Town 1 Crewe Alexandra 0
CREWE Alexandra suffered their first league defeat of the season on Saturday as they fell at Grimsby Town.
Mitch Rose’s header before the break was enough to consign Dave Artell’s side to defeat having won two and drawn two of their opening four games.
The Alex suffered an early blow when debutant Connor Grant was stretchered off following a sickening clash with Rose.
The Mariners midfielder showed no signs of being affected by the coming together as he latched onto a corner to head the hosts in front.
Chris Porter had a shot blocked by James McKeown and the follow-up cleared off the line as The Alex pressed for a leveller, but Grimsby held on.
