CREWE FC can maintain a place with the frontrunners if they defeat Rylands tomorrow.
A 1-0 home loss to Malpas on Tuesday night leaves them seventh after their opening seven games of the season in the Cheshire Premier League.
But a home win against third-placed Rylands would see them leap above the Warrington side and keep them among the likes of Whaley Bridge, Congleton, Wythenshawe Town and Ashton Town in the bid to keep pace with current unbeaten leaders Knutsford.
Crewe's three wins so far have come against Congleton (3-0), Wythenshawe (2-0) and Malpas (5-4), while losses have been felt against Knutsford (3-1) and Rudheath (3-2) along with the latest midweek fall to Malpas.
Their only draw was 2-2 at Greenalls Padgate St Oswalds.
