A CREW from Northwich Rowing Club helped their national team to overall success on Saturday at the Home International Regatta.

Brothers George and Finn Lawton, along with Joe Anderson and Harry Taylor, made up a senior men’s four that came second to rivals from Scotland in their race at Strathclyde Park.

Coach Jed Barlow joined them north of the border.

The points they collected contributed to a tally that assisted England, who acted as hosts, to retain a senior men’s title they won at Cardiff Bay in 2016.

They also defended their crown in both junior categories, while Scotland’s senior women claimed the new Dame Katherine Grainger Trophy – named after Great Britain’s most decorated female Olympian.

A total of 76 rowers, from 27 clubs across the country, were picked to represent England at the event.

The Northwich boat, which reached the last 16 of the Wyfold Challenge Cup at Henley Royal Regatta earlier this month, secured their place following a time trial at Caversham.
