CHESHIRE Stars R were pushed to their limit by opponents Witton Albion during the latest round of matches in the South Cheshire Premier Netball League.
A slender 32-30 victory keeps them at the top of the Division Two table, and on course to be promoted to the next level.
Captain Diane Gentle, who scored regularly throughout, was picked as the Middlewich team’s best player on the night.
They have now won 11 of their 13 matches to date this season.
Stars S suffered a rare defeat in the Championship Division on Monday, going down 26-14 against third-placed Sharks.
Attacker Nic Wellington switched to an unfamiliar role at goal-defence, doing so well enough to be picked as her team’s outstanding performer.
In Division Two, Stars Pink celebrated a hard-earned 35-31 victory against Harlequins.
They uncertain of a victory until the closing stages, overturning a five-goal first-quarter deficit.
