IMPROVING Winnington Park thirds extended an unbeaten run after a 31-22 success against high-flying Crewe & Nantwich thirds at Burrows Hill.
Dave Lilley dotted down for the hosts, only for Crewe to respond with a converted try of their own in a North West Intermediate League Division Four South fixture.
James Johnson added the extras to his own score to make it 12-7, but the sides were level shortly afterwards when the visitors notched again.
However Park sneaked in front by the break after Gaz Williams got his name on the score-sheet, Johnson kicking a conversion.
A stalemate followed the interval until Park pushed over Williams with a fine drive to the line, and Mark Phoenix added gloss when his burst forward yielded another try.
Johnson’s extras meant a pair of tries for Crewe, neither of them converted, provided only consolation.
Park head to Congleton seconds this Saturday, kick off 2.15pm.
