A MIDDLEWICH bowler will represent England this weekend at the World Short Mat Bowls Championships.
Steve Proctor is one of three Cheshire players included in the national team squad for three days of competition at Leigh Sports Village near Manchester.
He has been part of a county side that has won the English Inter County Premier title on eight successive occasions from 2006, a sequence ended by Hampshire last year.
A total of 14 countries will send bowlers to Leigh, where they will take part in singles, pairs, triple and fours competitions.
It is the first time the tournament has been held in the north west in almost 20 years.
