WINNINGTON Park seconds battled muddy conditions, and stubborn opponents, to secure a victory on Saturday.
A 25-21 success against their Sefton counterparts leaves the men from Burrows Hill placed third in Division Two South – two points adrift of a promotion position – ahead of a trip to Warrington this weekend.
The hosts’ tries were scored by Nic Clawson, Paul Houghton and Gareth Owens, with scrum half James Johnson converting two of those.
He added a pair of penalties as well to make the difference.
Northwich seconds had a single three-pointer to show for their efforts during a meeting with promotion-hopefuls Christleton at Moss Farm.
They eventually went down 27-3.
Winnington Park’s fourths were convincing 31-0 victors at Old Bedians in Division Five South, registering a first success in the league since the middle of October.
Flanker Luke Thompson was a stand-out performer for the visitors, for whom Will Anderson – twice – Carl Bellis, Tom Leech and Josh Gibbon touched down.
Rodger Rayner added extras to three of those.
They rise to sixth in the standings as a reward.
