NORTHWICH’S Will Alterman scored a top 10-finish during the latest round of the Avon Tyres Formula Ford 1600 Championship at his home circuit on Saturday.
After qualifying 10th fastest in a 21-strong field made up of machines built before 1990, he started a 20-minute race at Oulton Park from the grid’s fifth row.
Alterman dropped a place in a dash towards the first corner on the opening lap, but recovered in the closing stages after passing the car ahead of him.
When another rival retired, he crossed the line ninth – eighth in class – in his single-seater.
