CHESHIRE Stars T, from Middlewich, are one win away from reaching the South Cheshire Premier League’s top tier following a play-offs victory last night, Thursday.
A 28-20 success against Wright Manley Rubies in the semi finals sets up a date with the side that finishes third bottom in the Premier Division – to be decided next Tuesday – next month.
Stars, who finished third in the Championship Division, had defeated clubmates Cheshire Stars S in the quarter finals earlier this week.
It was an evening to remember as well for Witton Albion, on the verge of playing at the highest level in their short history following a 25-22 victory against Roundabouts.
The Northwich-based team was lowest-ranked of the teams that reached the play-offs, only to record back-to-back wins against opponents they haven’t beaten previously to reach the final.
They will now meet Star, eighth in the Championship Division at the end of the regular season, at Sir William Stanier Leisure Centre, in Crewe, on Tuesday, March 4.
