A WHITEWASH of Middlewich Legion A by table-toppers Owley Wood A moved the Weaverham outfit closer to winning the Mid Cheshire League’s Premier Division title.
Their lead over closest rivals Pockets C is 16 points, despite the Winsford-based team recording a 5-2 win against Riley’s.
Third-placed Middlewich Legion D, the reigning champions, are eight points further back after a 4-3 win over Castle Private A.
Pockets A prop up the Division One table after failing to win a frame against Owley Wood D, while at the summit Castle Private B lead the rest by 17 points following their latest win.
Elsewhere, Wharton Cons D lost to Winnington C while Cygnet went down at Owley Wood B.
Winnington A’s hold on first place in Division Two was weakened after they fell to a heavy defeat against Cosey Club. They are separated now by only four points.
Wharton Cons C remain top of Division Three after they eased past Meadowbank A, a trick copied by Wharton Cons A against Castle Private D.
