A KINGSMEAD schoolgirl secured double gold medal success in the UK Youth Development League National Finals at Birmingham’s Alexander Stadium.

Ellie Jackson, of Sale Harriers, clinched gold in the under 13 girls’ 70m hurdles in a personal best 11.22s.

The Cransley School pupil then twice improved her lifetime best in the long jump to finish first again, almost half a metre ahead of her closest rival. She also bagged a silver gong in the 150m.

Coach Geoff Tomlinson said: “This caps off a truly fantastic outdoor season for Ellie. She can look forward to making the step up to the under 15s next year ranks with genuine optimism.”
