Lorraine Kelly returned to ITV on Thursday (November 5) after a power cut on Wednesday (November 4) cancelled her programme and two other shows.

ITV’s Covent Garden studio lost power overnight on Wednesday, forcing the broadcaster to remove Lorraine, This Morning and Loose Women from its schedule.

ITV extended Good Morning Britain (GMB) until 10am before showing a “the best bits” episode of This Morning.

In a statement, an ITV spokesperson said: “Following a power cut overnight in the wider area where our Covent Garden studio is based, we are unable to broadcast Lorraine, This Morning and Loose Women live today.”

“We will return to our normal schedule as soon as possible.”

Lorraine and This Morning return to ITV after being pulled due to power cut

Lorraine and This Morning have both returned to ITV this morning after Wednesday's power cut.

Kelly addressed the power cut on her show, saying: "Hello and welcome to the show.

"We are back in the studio today after that wee power cut yesterday.

"It affected quite a lot of Covent Garden, but we're all sorted."

This Morning hosts Cat Deeley and Ben Shephard also spoke about the power cut, joking they had "stuck 50p in the meter" and were now "back up and running".

Shepard said: "There was a power cut across the whole of Covent Gardens apparently, which meant that we weren't on air.

He continued: "Thank you to the team that managed to get everything up and running again, it was a lot of hard work.

"But fingers crossed we are fully charged and ready to go."

ITV announces Lorraine schedule change

Kelly has hosted her self-named programme since 2010, having previously presented on GMB, GMTV, This Morning and Daybreak.

Earlier this year, ITV announced several schedule changes, including reducing Lorraine from one hour to 30 minutes.

The show will also only air for 30 weeks out of 52 from 2026.

On weeks when the show is not on air, Good Morning Britain will air for an extra half-hour, from 6am to 10am.

Speaking to the Press Association, Kelly previously said: “My show is now only 30 weeks a year, and it’s only half an hour now, and so I’ve got much more time.

“It’s actually worked out really well, because the balance now that I have is really doable.”

Kelly, who is also a writer, said the changes had meant she has had more time to write.

She recently published her second novel, The Island Secret, a sequel to her 2024 debut, The Island Swimmer.
