CUBS braved the elements to take part in the Clean for the Queen campaign.
Members of 1st Lostock Gralam Cubs helped to tidy up Anderton Country Park by taking part in two group litter picks.
Clean for The Queen is a campaign to clear up Britain in time for the Queen’s 90th birthday, which will be officially celebrated in June.
“When the Queen came to the throne litter was not the problem it is today,” said assistant Cub Scout Leader Paul Clarke.
“Food packaging, plastic bottles, takeaway meals and cigarette butts have all contributed to a growing menace that affects our wildlife, streets, countryside and sense of pride.
“What better way could we show our gratitude to Her Majesty than to clean up our country?”
The litter pick evenings at the park were backed by Cheshire West and Chester Council, which supplied the litter pickers and refuse sacks, and thanks also went to Dave, the local countryside ranger, for his help.
“We are backing this campaign to clean up our towns and surrounding countryside and would urge other groups, both Scouting and non-Scouting, to do likewise, so we can really make a difference and in our own small way say happy birthday to Her Majesty the Queen,” said Paul.
