A WOMAN from Weaverham has been sentenced to two years in prison following a distraction burglary in Northwich.
Stacey Williams, 34, of Walnut Drive, was charged with burglary of a dwelling and was sentenced on Wednesday, September 19, at Chester Crown Court.
On August 1, Williams attended an address on Church Road and asked the householder, an elderly lady, for a glass of water.
While the victim was in the kitchen, Williams stole her purse.
Williams was arrested on August 7 after an officer noticed she matched the description given by the victim.
DC Leanne Brudrett of Northwich CID said: "This is a great result which followed some quick and intuitive police work.
"We hope that this has saved other vulnerable people from becoming victims of Williams′ criminality."
