TRIBUTES have been paid to a former Sir John Deane’s teacher killed in a plane crash in Nepal.

Raymond Eagle, 58, died when the Sita Air plane crashed and burst into flames shortly after taking off from Kathmandu on September 28.

Former students have described how Mr Eagle “treated them like adults” and was an excellent tutor.

Mr Eagle had taken the trip as part of a holiday of a lifetime and was one of seven Britons killed in the crash.

Cuddington resident Tom Coulbeck, aged 33, was taught Psychology by Mr Eagle between 1995 and 1997.

He said: “It’s really tragic news. Ray was a really nice guy and was an excellent tutor.

“I’ll always remember him for treating us like adults, and helping to convince me to go on to study the subject at Birmingham University.”

Stephanie Beresford, a nurse at Leighton Hospital’s emergency admissions unit, was also taught by Mr Eagle at Sir John Deane’s college.

The 30-year-old said: “He taught me sociology about 14 years ago and he was a very amiable chap. He was a little bit eccentric but a really nice guy.”

Mr Eagle also worked for Cheshire East Council, where he spent 11 years as a support worker for disabled people.
