A FORMER soldier is swapping a day in the office for a debut appearance in the boxing ring to raise cash for charity.

Account manager Seb Hemmings, who now works at Comms-care in the Lostock Triangle Business Park, is busy training to take part in the annual IT Channel CRN Charity Fight Night in May.

The Lostock Gralam company has an impressive track record in the challenge, and Seb, 31, is hoping to secure its fifth victory while gaining funds for Help for Heroes.

“I was a former soldier in the Cheshire Regiment for four years and lost my friend, Colour Sergeant Bobby Horton, last year,” he said.

“My uncle is also due to go back out for his third tour later this year and I am honoured to be taking part in the fight night for a great charity that is close to my heart.”

The Crewe resident will come face-to-face with Tunji Oyedele from Orange IS, at the competition in The Brewery in London, on May 24.

All the money that he raises on the night, as well as prior to the event, will be donated to charity.

Seb added: “I am very proud to be competing in this year’s CRN Fight Night and representing Comms-care.

“I will do my best on the night to maintain our undefeated title and even though I am up against a strong contender, it is not the size of the dog in the fight, it is the size of the fight in the dog that matters.”

Ben Davies, managing director at Comms-care, said: “There is always a real buzz around the business when we have one of our guys competing in the CRN Fight Night and this year is no different as we wish Seb the best of luck as he embarks on his quest to become the fifth Comms-care champion.”
