PROUD pupils and teachers at Middlewich High are celebrating some of the best GCSE results the school has ever seen.

Seventy-eight per cent of students achieved five or more A* to C grades, compared with the national target of 72 per cent.

Out of those, 63 per cent gained between an A* and a C in English and mathematics, compared to the target of 62 per cent.

There were also some outstanding individual performances with many pupils achieving the highest grades possible in all of their subjects.

Head teacher Martin Forster said: “I am extremely proud of all our pupils. The results this summer at GCSE are some of the best ever at the school.

“Most pupils made significant progress during Key Stage 4. It shows what can be achieved when the home-school partnership works together successfully.

“As well as congratulating our pupils who showed great commitment and determination, I would also like to record my grateful thanks to all the staff for their unstinting efforts and professionalism and the parents for their incredible support and encouragement.”
