CHESHIRE Police have laid bare a lying couple's dishonesty during a cover-up of a crash in a three-and-a-half-minute video of their crimes.
Jay Price and Kelly Brown, of Cavendish Close, were at Chester Crown Court to be sentenced on several charges on Monday, October 12.
The couple came to the attention of the police after a member of the public called in about an overturned car in a pond on Bradford Road.
On Thursday, January 22, all emergency services including an air ambulance and a number of other specialist resources were at the scene.
Inside the Vauxhall Corsa was evidence including bank cards belonging to the pair and a keyring bearing a photograph of the two of them.
Once Price and Brown were caught up with the former claimed he had been at the pub, where a man called 'Fletchy' had bought the car, while the latter claimed she had been at home at the time of the crash.
However there were a number of inaccuracies and inconsistencies in their accounts and there was CCTV of them travelling towards the crash scene in the car and travelling away from the crash scene on foot.

The pair both pleaded guilty to perverting the course of justice at the crown court on Friday, August 28.
Price, 36, also pleaded guilty to careless driving, driving without a licence and failing to report a collision.
He was sentenced to one year and 10 months in prison with a 620-day driving disqualification on release.
Brown, 32, was sentenced to three months in prison, although it was suspended for a period of one year.
Her suspended sentence is with an electronically-monitored 120-day alcohol abstinence requirement.
PC Jack Pilkington, of Cheshire Police, said: "Following the collision Price and Brown set about an elaborate scheme in order to evade justice.
"Rather than just report the collision, they purposely chose to attempt to pervert the course of justice and repeatedly lied to officers about what happened on that night.
"Their deceit cost taxpayers thousands of pounds and also resulted in disruption to local residents and businesses.
"However, their plans were clearly doomed from the outset, and as a result of the evidence we gathered they were left with no option but to plead guilty to the charges against them and have now been held accountable for their actions."
