A THRIVING village pub in Antrobus has been named among the top 10 per cent of hospitality venues worldwide for the eighth year in a row.

The Antrobus Arms, on Warrington Road, has been awarded the TripAdvisor Travellers’ Choice Award for 2026.

The awards are based entirely on customer reviews submitted to the travel website.

The latest recognition comes despite challenging conditions across the hospitality industry, with hundreds of pubs nationwide closing their doors in recent years.

The Antrobus Arms said its reputation had been built on 'traditional pub favourites', including its popular Sunday roasts and its steak and Weetwood ale pie.

Its real ale offering has also won recognition from CAMRA, leading to its inclusion in the Good Beer Guide for 2025.

Kathryn Kearns, the pub's restaurant manager, said: “We're honoured to be recognised by TripAdvisor once again.

“Eight years in a row comes down to the team turning up and caring, every single shift.

“Whether it's a Sunday roast with the family, a quiet pint after work, or a full-blown Christmas party, we want every visit to be one people talk about afterwards.”

The award comes at a time when many pubs are facing economic pressures, but the Antrobus Arms says trade continues to grow.

Martin Barnes, one of the pub's family owners, said: “The pub is going from strength to strength, and we know how fortunate that makes us.

"A lot of good pubs are having a hard time of it right now.

“Being recognised for our consistency of hospitality, food, drink, and service is extremely encouraging, because consistency is the hardest thing in this trade.

“We have big plans to make the Antrobus Arms even better in the years to come.

"The building has so much history and so much potential, and we feel we owe it to both to make it the best it can be.”

The award comes as the pub prepares for the busy festive period, with Christmas party bookings now open and winter Sunday roast sittings already filling up.

The Antrobus Arms is a dog-friendly and family-friendly venue which hosts everything from weekday lunches and birthday celebrations to larger gatherings and seasonal events.
