A MAN, 66, has been arrested on suspicion of sex offences following a raid in Northwich.
At around 7am this morning, Friday, police officers executed a warrant at an address on Vicarage Road in Northwich.
A 66-year-old man was arrested at the address on suspicion of numerous offences, including making indecent images or pseudo photographs of children, distributing indecent images or pseudo photographs of children and possession of prohibited images of children.
The man is being held in police custody, and a search is currently underway at the address by dedicated local search officers.
“Today’s arrest is the result of a detailed investigation by PC Howells, during which a large quantity of child sexual abuse material was discovered and linked to the arrested man,” said Detective Inspector Louise Austin of the sex offender management unit.
“We want to make it clear that online child abuse material is not a victimless crime.
"There are real, innocent children who are forced to endure horrific abuse, and anyone found to be engaging with this kind of content will face the full force of the law.”
