A NEW support centre for families affected by childhood cancer is celebrating it's first milestone.

The Joshua Tree Support Centre in Northwich opened last year after hundreds of volunteers joined the DIY SOS team to build the new facility.

Now, during Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, the support centre will host a free open afternoon on Wednesday, September 23, to mark one year since opening.

The centre, in Dalefords Lane, provides specialist support to children and families dealing with the emotional impact of a cancer diagnosis.

Running from 2pm to 7pm, the open event will offer visitors a chance to tour the purpose-built facilities and learn more about the services offered.

During the open afternoon, visitors will also have the chance to meet members of the team and learn about the vital role local people, organisations, and businesses play in supporting the centre's work.

The centre's team is looking forward to welcoming both long-term supporters and those interested in learning more about their work.

The open afternoon is open to all, including healthcare professionals, volunteers, local residents, and anyone curious about the centre's work.

The centre has asked visitors to book onto one of the available time slots on their website to help manage numbers.
