PICTURES show how firefighters helped rescue a cow after it got stuck in a pond over the weekend.

At around 12.35pm on Saturday, firefighters were called to Marsh Lane near Northwich.

This was following reports that a cow had become stuck in a pond.

Two fire engines and the Animal Rescue Unit from Knutsford attended the scene.

The pond water level was low and allowed firefighters to secure the animal and pull it out safely using animal rescue equipment.

Pictures shared by Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service show how crews entered the muddy pond to help pull the animal free.

Thankfully, they managed to safely return it to dry land.
