AN abnormal load is making its way through Middlewich, Winsford, and Northwich.

Cheshire West and Chester Council (CWAC) has made an abnormal load movement order which comes into force at midnight on Sunday, August 16, lasting until 11.59pm on Monday, August 17.

The load is being transported from Stafford to the docks at Ellesmere Port.

While it is not known what the load is, in the past, large transformers for use in the offshore renewable energy industry have used this same route.

Previous loads using this route between Stafford and Ellesmere Port have weighed between 550 and 600 tonnes.

The load will enter the borough at Holmes Chapel Road, A54, in Sproston, then proceed through Middlewich before turning off on to Road One in Winsford Industrial Estate.

In then turns on to the A556, Chester Road in Davenham before getting back on to the A54 near Kelsall.

Traffic management measures will be in place along the route for convoy working.
