A TROUBLED care home is taking steps in the right direction to turn things around under its new ownership.
Lake Side Nursing Home, formerly known as Winsford Grange Care Home, was taken over in March by SAS Care Group.
As Winsford Grange, the Station Road Bypass home received four consecutive 'inadequate' ratings from the Care Quality Commission (CQC), which also placed the facility in special measures in October 2024.
And, after inheriting the challenge from the home's previous owners Park Homes UK, SAS Care Group immediately implemented a programme of improvements.
Now, those early efforts have been rewarded with a 'good' rating at a recent inspection under the provider assessment and market management solution (PAMMS) framework, led by Cheshire West and Chester Council.
The nursing home was also awarded an 'outstanding' rating in its infection prevention and control (IPC) inspection.
It is yet to be inspected by the CQC, the independent regulator of health and social care in England.
A spokesman for SAS Care Group Ltd said: "We are proud to celebrate the remarkable transformation of Lake Side Nursing Home demonstrating what can be achieved through strong clinical leadership, teamwork, and an unwavering commitment to high-quality care."
The changes made since the takeover include improving governance, recruiting skilled staff, boosting training and development, and introducing robust quality assurance systems.
SAS Care Group, run by registered nurses, is focused on providing person-centred care through a holistic approach involving all staff, from housekeepers to clinical teams.
The spokesman added: "The organisation is dedicated to creating a warm, welcoming environment where residents feel safe, respected, and truly at home."
Kizzy Ankers, the home's manager, previously told the Northwich & Winsford Guardian: "The long-term vision is hopefully having a good CQC report or even an outstanding CQC report.
"We want to get rid of all of the horrible thoughts about Winsford Grange Care Home and we want it to be a great place for service users and for staff."
The spokesman added SAS Care Group is continuing to invest in staff training, facilities, and resident wellbeing with the aim of delivering the highest quality of care now and in the future.
