BUSINESS colleagues are set to tackle the Sandstone Trail in memory of the young daughter of one of their friends and former workmates.

Nine-year-old Freya Jones and her family were supported by childhood cancer charity The Joshua Tree while she was being treated last year for a brain tumour.

Freya sadly died in the autumn, shortly after a team from Chester firm BusinessComparison - where her dad Paul Jones used to work - did a 30-mile walk to raise money for the family.

Now, this September, the team and Paul will be embarking on another trek, taking in all 34 miles of the Sandstone Trail, to support the Northwich-based charity.

Philip Brennan, founder and managing director of BusinessComparison, said: "Last summer’s challenge was about rallying around Paul and his family during an incredibly difficult time, and supporting them in any way we could.

"This year, it’s about remembering Freya, recognising a charity that supported her and the family, and giving back.

"The team at The Joshua Tree make a real difference to local families facing the unimaginable.

"It’s a great cause, and the Sandstone Trail is a really tough challenge, so we’re encouraging anyone who can to donate or bring attention to our fundraising page."

One September 25, the team will begin their hike in Frodsham, before finishing in Whitchurch.

Taking part in the walk with Philip are his BusinessComparison colleagues Max Solomon, Steph Salusbury, Joe Charlesworth, and Younes Chougui.

They will be joined by Paul, from Wrexham, and the Joshua Tree CEO, Richard Driffield.

BusinessComparison is also providing logistical support throughout the day, with transport, food, drink and essential supplies along the route.

The trek follows their July 2025 fundraising walk, which covered a similar distance from New Brighton promenade to the Chester office while Freya was still undergoing treatment.

Joshua Tree CEO Richard said: "Thank you to the team at BusinessComparison for taking on this incredible challenge and for choosing to support The Joshua Tree.

"I’m proud to be joining the team, alongside my friend Paul, as we walk the length of the Sandstone Trail in memory of Freya.

"The Joshua Tree is here for every family affected by childhood cancer, providing ongoing, tailored support whenever it’s needed.

"Every pound raised will go directly towards our work delivering these vital services for families when they need us most."

Headquartered in Sandiway, The Joshua Tree supports children and families affected by childhood cancer across the UK.

The charity offers practical, emotional, health and wellbeing guidance throughout their cancer journey.

Donations raised from the walk will help the organisation continue to deliver these essential services to families in need.
