A STUNNING rare bird has been spotted in Northwich.

This is according to Bird Guides, a website where avid twitchers can report sightings.

According to the report, a Caspian Tern was spotted at Budworth Mere in Marbury Country Park.

Sightings of the bird were reported on July 13 and 14, and the beautiful seabird was last seen at around 5 pm on July 14.

Caspian Terns are the world’s largest variety of tern, with a scattered distribution across the globe.

They breed in North America, where they are widespread.

It is very rare that they are spotted in the UK, with roughly five sightings a year reported.

Most of these sightings occur during the summer months, as the birds migrate or wander post-breeding.
