THOUSANDS of young people are set to gather for a week-long international event celebrating adventure and teamwork.

Chamboree 2026, organised by Cheshire Scouts in partnership with Girlguiding in Cheshire, will welcome 6,000 participants from across the UK and overseas for a week of activities and friendship in August.

The event is held every four years and is entirely run by volunteers.

Dave Hopley, camp chief and lead volunteer for Cheshire Scouts, said: "Chamboree is a huge undertaking involving hundreds of volunteers and taking more than two years to plan and organise.

"The thousands of young people taking part have a fantastic experience, learning new skills and making friendships and memories that will last a lifetime."

This year’s event will take place at the Cheshire Agricultural Showgrounds in Tabley from August 8 to 15, and the site will be transformed into an immersive adventure camp.

Activity zones will feature everything from ziplining to land yachts and practical team challenges.

For the first time, participants will also take part in a dedicated conservation day at Chester Zoo, exploring how small, local actions can help protect wildlife and the environment.

The 2026 Chamboree theme is the Animal Kingdom.

Every young person will have the opportunity to learn from a conservation expert about how they can make a difference.

Dwayne Fields, UK chief scout, will visit the camp on Thursday, August 13, to meet participants and volunteers.

He will also get to see first-hand the impact of Scouting and Guiding on young people across Cheshire and beyond.
