A RUDHEATH pensioner has pleaded not guilty to the rape and the sexual assault of another man's unconscious partner.

Graham Brougham will stand trial with a dozen others including the husband from Stockport, in Greater Manchester.

The 73-year-old has pleaded not guilty to rape, conspiracy to commit rape, and conspiracy to commit sexual assault.

Brougham, of Birtwistle Road, and others can be named after reporting restrictions were lifted, but the husband cannot be identified in the interest of protecting the alleged victim's anonymity.

The majority of the accused are from Greater Manchester but there are other co-defendants from Derbyshire, Kent, Somerset, and Scotland.

There is another pre-trial review in August ahead of a planned trial in September before a judge and jury at Manchester Minshull Street Crown Court.
