PUPILS have helped to brighten up their town by taking part in a flowerbed planting project.
Children from Grange Community Nursery and Primary School, Oak View Academy, and Wharton CofE Primary School supported Winsford Town Council staff in planting a vibrant display on Hill Street.
This marks the second year running that Winsford primary schools have contributed to the project, which forms part of the council’s efforts to enhance public spaces across the town.
Cllr Pauline Fitzsimmons, the mayor of Winsford town council, said: "Everyone at the town council would like to thank the pupils and staff at the schools for getting stuck in and helping us to plant up our flowerbed at Hill Street – they did a great job.
"One of our key actions in the council plan is to plant displays around the town, and this is the second time we have done this at Hill Street."
The circular bed has been filled with a mixture of colourful bedding plants, creating a standout feature for those travelling through the area.
Cllr Fitzsimmons said the project helps to reflect the town’s character.
She said: "The location is an important one, because it is seen by so many people as they navigate the large roundabout going out of the town towards Middlewich.
"It makes for a great view and gives a great impression of a town which is proud and wants to look its very best."
It is hoped that further planting sessions will be arranged at some of the parks and open spaces owned and managed by the town council including Town Park in the middle of Winsford.
