A HUGE live concert tour is bringing one of cinema’s most beloved fantasy epics back to the big screen.
The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring in Concert will tour arenas across the UK and Ireland later this year, pairing the 2001 film with a live performance of Howard Shore’s Oscar-winning score.
The immersive arena experience will feature more than 200 musicians and singers performing the score in sync with the film, projected on a 60ft HD screen.
Marking its 25th anniversary, the concert will take audiences on a journey through Middle-earth in a fully immersive format.
The film follows Frodo Baggins, played by Elijah Wood, who is a lowly hobbit entrusted with an epic quest to save Middle-earth from the ever-growing forces of darkness.
The UK and Ireland tour will see the concert film come to Manchester, as well as London, Dublin, Glasgow and Birmingham.
The immersive experience will stop at Manchester's Co-op Live on December 12, and audiences will hear the Halle Orchestra performing the iconic soundtrack.
Howard Shore’s score is widely regarded as one of the greatest achievements in modern film music and has topped Classic FM’s Movie Music Hall of Fame for three years running.
The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring remains one of the most influential blockbusters in film history.
Its cultural impact spans global fan communities, internet culture, New Zealand’s screen tourism industry, the related Hobbit film trilogy, and new cinematic projects still in development.
The concert tour offers fans a chance to rediscover the magic in a communal setting, 25 years after the film first arrived in cinemas.
