Junior teams across Northwich, Winsford, Middlewich, and surrounding areas are being given the chance to win £1,000 of sports equipment – and all they need is your support in our World Cup‑themed Win Kit for Kids token collect.
As the world gets ready for a summer of football, we’re kicking off our very own World Cup-style challenge here in Mid Cheshire – and your family can help crown the champions.
Today we launch Win Kit for Kids, a new competition giving grassroots teams the chance to win £1,000 of sports kit, thanks to our campaign partner THOR.
From June 11, we’ll be printing special Win Kit for Kids tokens in the Northwich & Winsford Guardian for five weeks.
Local junior sports teams – from football and rugby to netball, cricket, hockey and more – are invited to sign up and rally their supporters.
Every token collected and handed in to a team counts as one point.
Parents, guardians, grandparents, neighbours and friends can all join in by buying the paper, cutting out the tokens and passing them on.
The team that tops our Win Kit for Kids league table at the final whistle will scoop £1,000 of kit, courtesy of THOR.
Tokens are to be collected by the participating teams or posted into voting boxes located at:
- Tesco Extra, Manchester Road, Northwich
- Sainsburys, Venables Road, Northwich
- Waitrose, London Road, Northwich
- Morrisons, Nat Lane, Winsford
- Morrisons, Newton Bank, Middlewich
A THOR spokesman said: "THOR UK is delighted to once again be supporting the local communities around Cheshire by backing the Northwich & Winsford Guardian’s £1,000 World Cup community kit competition.
"Resources for grassroots sports clubs can be hard to come by, so we’re proud to back this activity, and give local sports clubs and schools the chance to win £1,000 worth of sports kit.
"At THOR UK, and throughout the wider THOR Group, we are committed to supporting the communities in which we operate.
"We take a responsible approach to our role, investing locally and contributing to initiatives that deliver meaningful, long-term value."
