A CHARITY lunch has raised more than £4,000 for two Cheshire charities.

The fundraising event, organised by Sue France and Debbie Dixon, supported CRY – Cardiac Risk in the Young, and Gift of A Wedding.

Debbie holds heart screening days for CRY in memory of her late son Aaron, while Gift of A Wedding, of which Sue is a patron, helps grant weddings to terminally ill people. Sue helps the charity in memory of her daughter Rachel.

The idea for a 'Mamma Mia!' themed event emerged during a lunch at The Stolen Lamb in Knutsford, with the event held there last month.

Seventy-five guests attended the Greek-themed afternoon, which featured a live ABBA tribute by The Louvettes – a group made up of Lydia and Sidney Causer, Louise Colohan, and Sophie Darlington – who are all connected to the Mid Cheshire Musical Theatre.

Sue, of Northwich, said: "We were so very grateful that The Louvettes agreed to perform and put on the most fantastic show, which everyone absolutely loved.

"Often it is quite nerve-wracking to put on an event but on this occasion it was a joy from start to finish and included quite a few tasty lunch meetings.

"The team at The Stolen Lamb were just outstanding and in particular Charley Ruocco, who made everything so easy for us during the planning and on the actual day.

"We raised more than £4,000 to be split between the charities and we couldn’t be more thrilled."

CRY works to prevent young sudden cardiac deaths through awareness, screening and research.

Debbie, of Tarporley, regularly organises screenings across Cheshire in memory of her son.

Gift of A Wedding gifts wedding services and vow renewals to people with a terminal or life-shortening illness, helping to create lasting memories for loved ones.

The event combined a Greek lunch with live music, dancing and sing-alongs, creating a fun and meaningful afternoon for all who attended.

It raises vital funds to help continue the charities’ work.
