A NORTHWICH opticians has raised £255 for a wildlife charity.

The town's Specsavers branch held a fundraiser in celebration of Sir David Attenborough’s 100th birthday, with all money raised going to Cheshire Wildlife Trust.

A week-long fundraiser invited customers and visitors to support the trust’s conservation work by purchasing numbered squares on a specially designed world map.

Katie Royle, retail manager at Specsavers Northwich, said: "Sir David Attenborough has inspired generations of people to care more deeply about the natural world, so we wanted to do something meaningful to celebrate his 100th birthday while supporting an important grassroots cause.

"The response from the community and neighbouring businesses has been fantastic.

"We’re so grateful for all the support we received and it was lovely to see so many people getting involved.

"Raising £255 for Cheshire Wildlife Trust is a brilliant result and a great way to mark such an iconic milestone."

A host of Northwich businesses donated vouchers and prizes for the event, including White Ribbon Boutique, Nails Express, Wildwood, Annie's Brows & Beauty, Flower Emporium, Poppy Rose Tearoom, House of Quirk, Cotebrook Shire Horse Centre, Dominos Northwich, and Vinnie's.

Specsavers Northwich also contributed a prize voucher.

One of the standout contributions was a Sir David Attenborough-themed balloon sculpture, gifted by The Wow Shop - Balloons & Things - which became a focal point of the fundraiser.

All proceeds will go toward Cheshire Wildlife Trust’s work protecting wildlife and natural habitats across the region.

Katherine Wade, fundraising manager at Cheshire Wildlife Trust, said: "We’d like to say a huge thank you to the staff and customers at Specsavers for raising money for Cheshire Wildlife Trust.
