A BILLIONAIRE businessman and a chart-topping celebrity are among the Mid Cheshire-linked names with nods in this year's The Sunday Times Rich List.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe is the north west region's richest person of any age while Harry Styles is the north west region's second richest person under the age of 40.

Sir Jim is originally from Greater Manchester but his chemical company – Ineos – has one site in the area of Northwich and one site in the area of Runcorn.

The Manchester United stakeholder and supporter’s estimated wealth of around £15.194bn is down from around £17.046bn.

Styles is originally from Holmes Chapel where he went to primary school and secondary school before his surge to stardom.

The ‘American Girls’ and ‘Aperture’ singer’s estimated wealth of more than £200m is not enough for an entry on the main list.

But Wirral's Phil Beahon and Tom Beahon, the co-founders of fashion firm Castore, are the only ones worth more in the same age range and same region.

The main list and the other associated lists will be available online from Friday this week and in print from Sunday this week according to The Sunday Times.

Robert Watts, the compiler of The Sunday Times Rich List, said the 'rags-to-riches stories' of some of those in this year's edition were 'particularly inspiring'.
