A PRISONER who was on the run for three days from HMP Kirkham will be behind bars for an additional four months after the audacious attempt.

Bradley Thomas fled from the open prison near Preston, Lancashire, past security staff and into a vehicle after a visit by the woman at the wheel.

It was not until around three days later that the 26-year-old, formerly of Weaverham, handed himself in to Cheshire Police's Winsford HQ on Wednesday, April 1.

After being arrested on suspicion of escaping from lawful custody he appeared last month at Crewe Magistrates Court and last week at Preston Crown Court.

After admitting the offence at the first opportunity Thomas, formerly of St Mary's Avenue, will be behind bars for an additional four months.
