ASDA has expanded its fleet with 55 new refrigerated double deck trailers.

The trailers, manufactured by Tiger Trailers in Winsford, are a dual-temperature variant of the firm’s refrigerated lifting deck model, marking its first order for the dual-temperature variant of its refrigerated lifting deck trailer.

They are designed to carry both chilled and frozen goods across Asda’s distribution network.

Chris Hall, vice president at Asda Logistics Services, said: "We’re very pleased with these new dual-temperature moving double-deck trailers from Tiger.

"This is Asda’s third year collaborating with the manufacturer and from our team having regularly visited Tiger’s factory it’s always been clear to see their ongoing innovation, flexibility, and attention to detail, along with impressive support."

Each trailer can carry up to 43 pallets or 72 cages, offering substantial capacity and aiming to reduce running costs and environmental impact by enabling fewer journeys.

The new fleet joins the 485 existing trailers the manufacturer has supplied to Asda to date, including ambient double-decks and short-length 'urban' single-deck fridge trailers.

Darren Holland, sales director at Tiger Trailers, said: "Asda is an integral part of Tiger’s customer base and it’s exciting to have worked closely with them on their latest refrigerated double-deck trailers, which are the pinnacle of what we currently offer as a manufacturer.

"We’re proud that each generation of trailers we supply Asda with incrementally raise the bar when it comes to design, engineering, safety and sustainability."

The trailers feature a 10-tonne rated lifting deck powered by Tiger’s in-house hydraulic system, with controls accessible at both ground and bay level.

Carrier HE19 fridge units support the dual-temperature capability.

Additional features include deep-insulated floor slabs, reinforced rear bay protection buffers, multi-purpose load securing, and a temperature-retaining shutter at the rear.

The units have also been finished in Asda’s signature branding, with slogans such as 'Delivery from a to brie', 'Packs a crunch', and 'Not all jams are bad jams' on display.

Tiger Trailers, based in Winsford, has been manufacturing refrigerated trailers and rigid bodywork since 2020 in partnership with Spanish firm LeciTrailer.

The company introduced its moving-deck double-deck model in 2024.
