A HOLIDAY park is powering up for a greener future with the launch of solar-powered lodges.

Fishpool Holiday Park in Delamere is introducing eco-friendly accommodation as part of its reopening, becoming one of the first sites in the UK to install solar-powered holiday lodges equipped with battery storage.

The two new lodges, developed in partnership with Victory Leisure Homes, function as self-sustaining energy units and will be available to visitors when the park reopens at the end of April.

Rhodri Owen, director at Ty Gwyn, the North Wales-based family business which recently acquired the park, said: "We are delighted to be partnering with Victory to enable holiday makers at Fishpool to enjoy our solar-powered lodges.

"It not only makes good business sense, it also reduces the park’s carbon footprint."

Harry Rix, a director of Rix Group, which owns Victory, said: "By integrating solar and battery storage into caravans and lodges, we’re creating assets that are not only more sustainable, but also more efficient to operate and better aligned with the long-term direction of energy.

"Our innovative approach combines design, engineering and commercial thinking.

"It’s not just about generating power; it’s about managing it intelligently to reduce costs and reliance on the grid."

The park will offer a range of caravans and lodges for both rental and purchase, while continuing to provide seasonal and nightly touring pitches.

Bookings are already being received from families, retired couples, and younger people seeking an active holiday in the heart of the Cheshire countryside from across the North-West.

Fishpool Holiday Park also offers a dual electric vehicle (EV) charging point near the entrance, supporting up to two vehicles at 22kW each.

Further adding to its environmental credentials, the site will use 20 per cent BIO LPG supplied by Deeside-based CamGas.

This renewable fuel - produced from waste residues and plant materials - can reduce carbon emissions by up to 90 per cent compared to traditional fossil fuels.

An extensive upgrade programme is currently underway, including landscaping, groundworks and drainage improvements.

New caravans and lodges have already been delivered to the site in preparation for its relaunch.

A key draw for visitors is Delamere Forest, with its traffic-free walking and biking trails and the Sandstone Trail.

The surrounding area is also home to a variety of pubs, restaurants, and farm shops.
