THE first programme of a new monthly radio show delving into 2,000 years of Northwich's history will broadcast this month.
'Northwich Now and Then' will premiere on Friday, April 10, at 1pm on Radio Northwich, with each programme then broadcast on the first Friday of each month through to December.
Presented by journalist and broadcaster Mike Cooksley, this first show will explore Northwich's Roman origins, when the town was known as Condate.
The first episode will feature contributions from local historian Ken Moth, Hannah Ryder from the Lion Salt Works Museum, and archaeologist Dr Mike Nevell.
Mike said: "As well as being informative, we want to make the programmes entertaining for listeners, and during each broadcast we will be airing a micro-drama with voice actors bringing alive the people of the time.

Speaking previously, he said: "For five years now, it has been the same format, so we felt it was time for something new."
Produced in collaboration with the Cheshire Museums Service, each episode will be supported by a display of period artefacts at the Weaver Hall Museum and Workhouse on London Road and at the Radio Northwich Studio in Barons Quay.
