FIRERIGHTERS were called to tackle an ‘out of control burn’ at risk of spreading at a rural property in Norley.

One fire engine from Northwich fire station responded to a call to a property on Gallowsclough Lane, off Fingerpost Lane, in Norley at 3.35pm on Tuesday, March 24.

Concerns were raised the blaze, which began as a controlled burn, had started to spread.

Though the fire had been put out before firefighters arrived, they used a hose to dampen down the areas to remove the risk of it starting up again.

A Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said: “Fire crews were called to concerns of a controlled burn that had started to become out of control.

“The fire was out on arrival, but firefighters used a hose reel jet to dampen down the area and ensure the fire was fully extinguished to prevent it reigniting.”
