AN affectionate cat is still searching for a place to call home.

Marmite, a 13-year-old cat, has spent 79 days in the care of the RSPCA Stapeley Grange Cattery in Nantwich and has yet to find her forever home.

Despite the association with her namesake, there is nothing divisive about this friendly feline, who has charmed staff and volunteers with her gentle nature.

Marmite has spent more than two months in the care of the RSPCA Stapeley Grange Cattery in Nantwich but has yet to attract much interest.

Nicola Chilton, deputy cattery manager, said: "Marmite really is the sweetest girl and is the most loving and affectionate cat that you could wish for.

"She always greets us at the front of the pen with friendly head bumps and an excited quivering tail.

"She even does a happy tippy-tappy toe dance to show her enthusiasm.

"You just cannot get a better reception than that.

"Marmite isn't big on playtime, which is normal for her age, she is more of a laid back lady who just loves human company and would suit being a gentle and loyal companion for someone who has time and love to offer her."

During her stay, Marmite has received extensive dental treatment, along with medication for a subsequent infection.

Despite her health challenges, she has remained patient and affectionate.

Ms Chilton said: "She did have a bit of a tough time because she developed an infection after her dental work, requiring several medications.

"She was so well-behaved and tolerant of all her treatment; despite needing daily medication, her temperament remained loving and affectionate.

"Now she's fighting fit and just patiently waiting for a loving home.

"They say Marmite is ‘love it or hate it’… but this Marmite is 100 per cent love!

"She is honestly the sweetest girl and she's stolen the hearts of all the staff and volunteers here at Stapeley."

Marmite could live with older children and may be able to share her home with another cat of a similar age and temperament.

She will require outdoor access once settled, though staff believe she may prefer the comfort of staying indoors.

Those interested in adopting Marmite can visit the RSPCA’s Find A Pet website to fill out an online application form.
