COMBERBACH’S raw milk-dispensing Milkbot has ceased trading for good.

Chris Woodcock, owner of the automatic dispenser of unpasteurised straight-from-the-cow milk at Home Farm on Marbury Road, made the announcement on Sunday, February 22.

Chris has been selling the raw milk directly to customers since 2016.

His milk comes from his pedigree Friesian dairy herd which graze prime pastures next to Marbury Park.

Raw milk has been very much in vogue with health food aficionados for several years now, as well as with gourmets who say they buy it for the taste alone.

It is a controversial product however, with warning from some quarters not to drink it as it comes with a higher risk of acquiring a bacterial infection.

Many fans are willing to take the risk however, in the knowledge the only process the milk has gone though between them and the cow is chilling it down to four degrees.

Chris said: “I never thought we would be saying this but we've made the very difficult decision to stop selling raw milk.

“We've had a fantastic 10 years selling raw milk but it's become increasingly difficult and we just don't have the time or energy anymore.

"We'd like to thank everyone for supporting us over the years.

“We will still be selling Merryfall’s cakes, Snugbury’s ice cream, and eggs.

“We hope to introduce meat soon, as well as a hot drinks machine.”

The announcement on social media was met with sadness from many of Home Farm’s regular customers, including youngsters who enjoy walking to the farm for tasty raw milk milkshakes.

One customer said: “So saddened to hear this, and also angry.

“It is becoming increasingly difficult for farmers, and for customers to obtain genuine, healthy food.”

Another said: “Great tasting product.

"It is such a shame you have decided to stop selling raw milk."

Another said: “I thought we struck gold when we found this little gem.

“We're so gutted.”
