AN old-school comedy legend whose 50-year-long career unexpectedly boomed when his clips started going viral on TikTok is coming to Northwich.
Known for his trademark haircut, Mick Miller rose to prominence on the iconic 1970s TV show, The Comedians, before amassing TV credits including The Royal Variety Performance, John Bishop’s Only Joking, and Peter Kay’s Car Share.
Mick’s remarkably long comedy career received a huge boost during the COVID pandemic when his clips started going viral on TikTok, giving him unexpected cult status.
He is also a former semi-professional football player and once played for Winsford Town, as well as having signed for Port Vale under the leadership of Stanley Matthews.
Warrington-based comedy promoter, Who Dares Grins, has announced Mike is going to be performing at the newly refurbished Owley Wood Recreation Club in Weaverham on Friday, March 13.
The show is part of his new national tour, An Hour With Mick Miller, and will be supported by fellow comedian, Bobby Murdoch.
Bobby, who is helping to promote the show, said: “Mick is one of our most treasured entertainers and has been at the top of his game for more than 40 years.
“He first came to prominence in the 70’s, but he is one of the few comedians of his generation who has made the transition onto the alternative circuit, creating a younger fan base along the way.
“He’s got such a wealth of experience. He style is pretty much one-liners, but he can do good observational stuff too.
“He never courted it, but over lockdown, TikTok absolutely went mad for him.
"He came out of it absolutely flying, and his ticket sales rocketed.
His new show is a masterclass in stand-up comedy, and absolutely not to be missed.”
Owley Wood Recreation Club, which has recently been refurbished, will be holding more comedy nights with Who Dares Grins in the coming months, with more top names in the pipeline.
Bobby added: “The venue is great to come and watch some live comedy.
"It’s got a good stage, great facilities, excellent bar, and nice staff.
“We’ve got Ricky Tomlinson coming up there this year.
“It’s not stand-up as such. He’s telling his life story, and afterwards people get a chance to go up and meet him.”
