BROWNIES in Northwich have been learning to ‘take meaningful action’ with the help The Big Toy Appeal.
Girls aged seven to 10 from the 1st Northwich Brownie Unit proudly took part in The Big Toy Appeal, led by national toy retailer, The Entertainer, helping ensure children in need receive a gift this festive season.
Through the appeal, a £5 toy purchased in-store is donated to a child locally.
The Entertainer then matches each donation with a second toy, gifted to a child supported nationally through its charity partners.
Together, the Northwich Brownies’ efforts will result in more 50 toys being donated to children both locally and nationally.
To help the young ladies learn about kindness, community spirit, and taking meaningful action, the Brownies each personally selected a toy to donate.
Brownies is part of Girlguiding, the UK’s largest organisation for girls and young women, and a member of the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts, a global movement empowering girls to learn new skills, build confidence, and make a positive difference in the world.

The unit has funded the £5 donation per child, with the girls thoughtfully choosing toys they believe another child would love.
Carol Martin, Tawny Owl for 1st Northwich Brownies, said: “The Big Toy Appeal is a wonderful opportunity for our Brownies to think beyond themselves and experience the joy of giving.
“Encouraging young girls to take action and support others is an important part of Girlguiding, and the girls have embraced this with so much enthusiasm and care.”
The Entertainer has been running The Big Toy Appeal since 2018, aiming to bring joy to children who may otherwise go without.
Ariana, age 8, said “It’s important to be kind and be nice to other people, so they can be nice to others too.”
Ava, age 7, said: “It was nice to be able to take the time to choose the right present, so we can help children who might not get one.”
