A CLASSIC car with a touching story is in the running for an award.
Winsford resident James Cribb has reached the final five in Lancaster Insurance’s Pride of Ownership Best of the Best competition with his restored 1989 Austin Metro City, affectionately nicknamed Gerty.
The car belonged to his late wife, Marg, and was her first and only vehicle.
James restored the Metro in her memory after it suffered corrosion, giving it a new lease of life.
He is one of five finalists selected from winners over the past decade, with the public now invited to vote for their favourite.
Yvonne Gosney of Lancaster Insurance said: "We know that every classic has a tale to tell, and we’ve seen plenty of these over the past ten years, from scrapyard rescues to family heirlooms lovingly passed down through generations.
