The Skoda Elroq is a compact electric SUV that builds on the success of the larger Enyaq, offering a more manageable size without sacrificing practicality.
It’s an excellent all-rounder aimed at buyers considering alternatives like the Nissan Leaf, Kia EV3, Renault Scenic E-Tech, and Peugeot E-3008, though it leans more towards understated design than bold styling.
While the Elroq doesn’t scream for attention, its clean lines and futuristic touches - like slim LED headlights and Skoda’s new ‘Tech Deck’ grille - give it a modern, if slightly conservative, look. Inside, it resembles the Enyaq’s layout with a minimalist dashboard, a large central touchscreen, and a low-slung centre console. The cabin feels spacious and well thought out, with supportive seats and a driving position that offers plenty of adjustment.
Interior materials are a mixed bag. Higher trims get leatherette finishes and carbon-style inserts, but some lower sections of the cabin and rear areas use harder plastics.
On various family outings, we found that the Elroq seats five comfortably. Rear passengers benefit from generous legroom, individual climate controls, USB-C ports, and clever smartphone pockets. The rear bench is particularly comfortable, though squeezing in three adults might be a stretch for longer journeys.
Boot space stands at 470 litres - less than rivals like the Peugeot E-3008 (520 litres) and Renault Scenic (545 litres) - but still practical. The rear seats fold flat in a 60:40 split, and there’s a ski hatch for longer items.
The Elroq offers three battery options:
- 50 (52kWh, 232-mile range, 170hp)
- 60 (63kWh, 250-mile range, 204hp)
- 85 (82kWh, 360-mile range, 286hp)
Acceleration is brisk across the range, with even the base model feeling lively in everyday driving. The top-spec 85 variant reaches 0-60mph in around 6.6 seconds, which feels quite swift enough for most everyday situations.
Ride comfort is a strong point. Soft suspension and chunky tyres deliver a smooth, cushioned experience, especially on long journeys. However, the Elroq isn’t particularly engaging to drive on the twisty B-roads. Steering is light and easy for urban manoeuvres but lacks feedback, and the car can feel unsettled over larger bumps. Suspension settings can be adjusted, but even in firmer modes, it doesn’t transform into a sporty drive.
Charging speeds are competitive. The Elroq supports up to 175kW DC fast charging, allowing the 85 model to go from 10% to 80% in about 28 minutes. The smaller batteries charge slightly quicker due to their lower capacity. Home charging via a 7.2kW AC unit takes between 7.5 to 12 hours depending on the battery.
Efficiency is rated at around 4.0 miles per kWh, which is respectable for its class. With zero tailpipe emissions, the Elroq benefits from low running costs and attractive company car tax rates.
Prices range from about £31,710 to £45,760, depending on the chosen trim and battery. The flagship Sportline trim adds premium touches like microsuede upholstery, carbon-effect accents, sports seats, and larger alloy wheels (up to 21 inches). Matrix LED headlights and gloss black exterior details also feature.
The centrepiece of the dashboard is a 13-inch touchscreen that controls most vehicle functions. It’s more responsive than previous Skoda systems and places key features within easy reach. However, the lack of physical buttons may frustrate some users.
A compact 5-inch digital driver display provides essential information like speed and range, and higher trims offer a head-up display for added convenience. Ambient lighting, especially Skoda’s signature green hue, adds a calming touch during night drives.
In conclusion, the Skoda Elroq is a well-rounded electric SUV that prioritises comfort, practicality, and efficiency. It’s not the most exciting car to drive, nor the most visually striking, but it delivers where it counts: space, refinement, and value. If you’re after a sensible EV with solid range options and thoughtful design, the Elroq is a compelling choice.
