A GLOBAL sportswear discounter is opening a new 7,700 sq ft store at the newly developed Winsford Cross Shopping Centre.
Sports Direct, one of the UK’s leading sports retailers, has taken on a unit, offering customers a range of sportswear, footwear, and equipment from a huge range of global top brands.
And in case you are wondering where to wear your new sports clobber, SPAC3 Fitness is launching its brand-new independent gym at the shopping centre, bringing state-of-the-art facilities, expert trainers, and a wide choice of classes.
Both businesses are joining the latest phase of Winsford’s regeneration programme, which has already seen popular brands and services relocate to new units.
As yet, neither business has provided an opening date, but it will mean a marked improvement to the town centre experience for shoppers and visitors, says to Cllr Nathan Pardoe, cabinet member regeneration at Cheshire West and Chester Council (CWAC).
He added: “I’m excited to welcome Sports Direct and SPAC3 Fitness to Winsford town centre.
“Their arrival gives visitors more shopping and fitness options and shows business confidence in Winsford thanks to the council’s transformation of the town centre.
"SPAC3 Fitness will provide the community with a high-quality fitness destination in the town centre, supporting active and healthy lifestyles.
“They join other businesses including Greggs, Nationwide, MyDentist, Caprinos, Hollie & Co., Tur & Co., and Specsavers in relocating to new units in the town centre.
“This positive news follows the opening of a new Costa Coffee and B&M, who moved to a new superstore earlier this year.
“There’s also a new car park, cycling and walking routes, and public spaces including the relocating of the war memorials to a new public square outside Winsford Library.”
Russell Figgis, centre manager at Winsford Cross and Barons Quay, believes the arrival of Sports Direct and SPAC3 Fitness reflects ‘the growing confidence in Winsford as a retail and leisure destination’.
“By attracting national and local businesses, the town centre is becoming more diverse, with a strong mix of shops, services, and leisure options,” he said.
“I am absolutely over the moon to be welcoming Sports Direct and Spac3 Fitness to Winsford Cross.
“These latest additions to the centre show the ongoing regeneration of Winsford is going from strength to strength.
“The whole shopping centre team is looking forward to working with them, and I am incredibly confident that their presence will greatly enhance the visitor experience at Winsford Cross.”
