NO cook worth their salt should miss the chance to own a stunning piece of hand-crafted Northwich kitchenalia, which is going for an absolute song.
A beautiful, rare earthenware salt pig, believed to be part of a batch made for the Lion Salt Works in Marston more than 40 years ago, is currently for sale on the online auction site, eBay.
And with a buy it now price of just £13.97 or best offer, it is an absolute bargain.
It is believed to have been hand made in Staffordshire some time between 1980 and 1986 by respected potter, Margaret Bastin, as it bears her unique gothic 'M' mark on its bottom.
Inscribed under the snout with the words ‘Lion Salt Works’ and ‘Northwich’, and with the mine’s logo on the back, the salt-glazed beauty would grace any good cook's kitchen counter top with its rustic elegance.
