With excellent cabin quality, a striking design and smooth powertrain, the hybrid version of the Peugeot 3008 feels like a mature all-rounder.

The vehicle blends SUV and fastback styling, boasting sharp angles, a jacked-up ride height and a sporty roofline. The GT version, tested here, includes a large amount of kit, including 10-inch infotainment, 12-inch digital drivers display and a range of safety assists.

Power comes courtesy of a 1.2-litre, three-cylinder petrol engine supported by a small electric motor, enabling brief electric-only drives.

With 136hp and 230Nm of torque, it accelerates from 0-62mph in 10.2 seconds, with a top speed of 125mph.

The interior of the vehicleThe interior of the vehicle The vehicle features a six-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, which, although smooth, shows some lag when accelerating rapidly.

However, when you adopt a more relaxed driving style, the 3008 provides a smooth and responsive experience.

The hybrid 3008 is agile in urban settings, with well-balanced steering allowing you to negotiate your way through traffic.

On motorways, it cruises comfortably at 70mph and handles twisty B-roads reasonably well, displaying minimal body sway and strong grip in tight corners. However, the soft suspension is more suited to family comfort than an engaging drive.

The vehicle has sharp linesThe vehicle has sharp lines Various drive modes, including Eco, Normal, and Sport, adjust the car’s dynamics, while steering wheel-mounted paddles allow for manual gear changes, adding to the driving experience and feeling of involvement.

Finding a comfortable driving position is straightforward, with plenty of manual adjustments available for the seat and steering wheel.

The front seats can be heated or ventilated, and the steering wheel can also be warmed in colder weather.

However, on longer journeys, the seats can feel a little on the firm side, lacking the option for extra lumbar support.

The distinctive lights The distinctive lights In terms of design, the Peugeot 3008 stands out with its high sides and sharply tapered rear, enhanced by a rear spoiler, and 20-inch alloy wheels on GT models.

Inside, the cabin is dominated by a large 21-inch high-definition curved display screen.

The dashboard lights up according to the drive mode, and there are soft-touch surfaces throughout.

The vehicle is equipped with an upgraded Focal sound system, connected navigation with over-the-air updates, and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone connectivity, among other features.

A separate i-Toggle panel provides quick access to the home page, media, navigation, phone, and Mirror Screen, and the icons on this display can be customised.

The cabin is spacious, accommodating tall passengers comfortably in the front and back.

The imposing nose of the vehicle draws attentionThe imposing nose of the vehicle draws attention The slightly elevated seating and wide opening rear doors facilitate easy access to child seats, with Isofix anchors on the outer rear seats.

The boot, accessed via a powered tailgate, can hold 520 litres of luggage, expanding to 1,480 litres with the rear seats folded.

There is also additional storage space beneath the boot floor.

The 3008, launched in its third generation in 2023, is available with mild hybrid, plug-in hybrid, and fully electric powertrains.

The new version continues to develop the design and interior themes of its predecessor, making it a strong competitor in the mid-size family crossover market against the likes of the Nissan Qashqai, Kia Sportage, and Ford Kuga.

The Peugeot 3008 GT Hybrid 136 e-DSC6 has an on-the-road price of £39,120, with the total price, including options, on my test car, at £41,670.
