Leaders from a Scout group have abseiled down the UK’s largest cathedral to raise funds for upcoming adventure abroad.

On Saturday, July 26, seven leaders from the 1st Moulton Scout Group took on the epic challenge to descend 150 feet from Liverpool Cathedral.

The challenge was part of the group's fundraising campaign towards its trips to Canada next year and Norway in 2027.

Sara Berryman, one of the Moulton Scout leaders taking part, said: "We had seven of our Scout leaders, including myself, who took on the abseiling.

"Some people were very excited going into this, and others were full of trepidation.

"They are a couple of people who are afraid of heights, so a lot of people pushed themselves well out of their safe zone to do this."

From hosting film nights and a cream tea afternoon to running tuck shops, the group has worked tirelessly to raise funds.

Sara added: "We plan to head out to a campsite an hour outside of Toronto in August, and we are going to take part in a week of adventurous activities, such as watersports, walking, climbing, environmental projects, and seeing the culture.

"We plan to do the same similar adventurous activities in Norway, but the scenery will be very different as it's set out in the countryside."

The 1st Moulton Scout Group is dedicated to providing young people with skills for life through various activities and experiences.

Sara added: "All of our Scout leaders have been working especially hard, and there is a lot of coordination.

"We are planning everything from training camps, activity days, and team building to make sure every event we do is a success and that the children do well.

"The Scouts themselves have been turning up, working so hard, so they have earned every penny they have raised so far.

"For future fundraising activities, we have a car race using balsa wood cars with an after-party barbecue, and we have various Christmas events planned, including the Christmas fair in Moulton."

The other Scout leaders who took on the abseiling challenge included Kim Fallows,  chairman Chris Cook, Alan Dixon, Dean Lomas, Sarah Kilby, and Harry Fallows.
