A MOULTON pub is one of the best 500 pubs in the country according to a national newspaper.

The Lion pub is one of a number of the pubs in Cheshire to receive recognition in The Telegraph.

The list is based on indicators including 'award-winning beer' and 'charming character' as rated by the ale expert, Will Hawkes, who has tried and tested thousands of watering holes in every ceremonial county.

Licensees Andy Jones and Doll Jones and the rest of the team are no strangers to success as The Lion pub is a two-time regional pub of the year with a decade on the bounce in the CAMRA Good Beer Guide.

Alpraham's Travellers Rest; Alsager's Lodge Inn; Chester's Albion Inn and Olde Cottage Inn; Macclesfield's Castle and Jolly Sailor; Neston's Harp Inn; and Tilston's Carden Arms are the other pubs in Cheshire.
